I'm a GM in Portland, and I've been prepping for years.

I don't know if it jibes with your politics, but there are Trans members active on the Liberal Gun Club forum.

Broadly speaking, I've found more comfortable acceptance by straight 2A gun people who know I'm gay than I find among gay people who know I have guns and support the Second Amendment.
There are always exceptions, though, like the old straight white guys interviewing me for a gun club membership: I figured I was in until it came out I'm gay..,then the temperature of the room dropped 20 degrees in an instant. I went from sure-thing to "well this is a social club".
There are dimwitted donkeys on both sides, but a shared interest/passion often overcomes that.

I tried researching the candidates to weed out the extremists and gay haters. Most of them have websites you can find if you google "candidate NRA board (name)". There is also a website called
nraontherecord.org that has a collection of controversial quotes by past and present NRA board members including anti gay slurs. Of course, new prospective board members will be a blank slate.
Many NRA board members are very conservative across the board, and some hate gays, but when they speak they speak for themselves and not the NRA as an institution. Basically, I voted for the sportsmen and women (aka the 'Fudds') who are more about shooting sports than a political agenda.
Hope this is some help.

Welcome to the forum. Although I'm in Portland now, I'm Washington born.
The Olympic Peninsula is just about the most beautiful place on Earth. Lucky you.
What guns do you have/shoot?

I can't seem to find any such Portland Pink Pistols group on Facebook.  The main PP website directs me to a Yahoo group, but no one seems to be home ):

It's too bad they only meet several times per year. Organized regular shoots sound like it'd be a fun thing.

I'm allowed up to four guests at the members-only range I recently joined.
Once the weather clears maybe we can get something organized.

There is a Portland chapter of PP that meets up a few times a year. They are active on Facebook.
(I'm not on Facebook anymore.)

I upgraded my EDC knife from my trusty old Victorinox Swiss Army Knife to a Benchmade North Fork.
I got the one with the wood handle because I'm just old fashioned that way.

Well, I did it. I stopped procrastinating and joined the NRA, so I changed my vote from "maybe someday" to "yes". I admit to mostly joining for selfish reasons: there are active Service Rifle/Match Rifle and Bullseye leagues in my area, but you have to be an NRA member to really take part or you're stuck in unsanctioned and unranked league matches. So there you are. Life memberships are only $600 right now, so thanks to CSACANNONEER and his profile link I saved a lot of money. I'm now a Life Member. Thanks!
